I ran the numbers on driving versus shipping my Porsche to Parade 2027 in Boise. Depreciation, fuel, hotels, and wear all argued for shipping both ways. Then I looked at 2,200 miles of Colorado mountain roads. The accountant lost. The Porsche enthusiast won. Now I just need to decide which Porsche gets the trip.
Hobbies
The One That Passed (And the Buyer Who Didn’t)
I came awfully close to buying Silvio’s gorgeous Lagoon Blue 2009 Boxster S from S Collective. A test drive, a favorable PPI at RAC Performance, and a car practically begging to be driven at Eagles Canyon. So why did I walk away? Apparently, I have commitment issues.
Climax Before Breakfast
Maverick PCA turned a 23-mile straight shot from Fairview to Desert into 54 wet miles of North Texas back roads. We even went through Climax with 15½ miles still to go.
Forty-Two Meters of Guessing Every Single Lap
My brake point at Turn 1 moved forty-two meters lap to lap. That’s nine-tenths of a second of pure guessing, and it explains almost everything else the data told me about Saturday at Eagles Canyon.
Brake Late, Turn In, Try Not to Screw It Up
I ran 31 laps at Motorsport Ranch, found a 1:31.87, and discovered I’ve already driven a 1:28.54. Just not during the same lap. Apparently the Skipper is ready. The loose nut behind the wheel still needs some tightening.
Three Sessions, One Yellow Boxster, and a Whole Lot of Traffic for a Friday
Cool morning temperatures, a nearly empty Eagles Canyon Raceway, and enough telemetry to satisfy the biggest data nerd. The Skipper kept getting quicker all day, even as the Texas heat and traffic worked against me. Sometimes the stopwatch doesn’t tell the whole story.
Fifteen Porsches, One Freight Train, and 108 Miles of Texas Therapy
What started as a plan for seven cars turned into fifteen Porsches chasing the sunrise across more than 100 miles of North Texas backroads before PlanoPoCo. Great roads, great friends, one freight train, and another reminder that the best drives are usually the unofficial ones.
Three Sessions, Fresh Yokohamas, and a Yellow Porsche Learning to Behave
Three hot sessions at Eagles Canyon Raceway, fresh Yokohama AD09s still coming in, and one Racing Yellow Boxster GTS learning that faster laps come from cleaner driving, not bigger heroics. The Skipper dropped to a 2:20.145 in regular CCW configuration, with data showing the time was hiding in smoother sectors, not straight-line speed.
Porsche Parade 2026: Shipping Skipper to Albany, Driving the Adirondacks, and Bringing Her Home the Long Way
Some trips start when you turn the key. This one started when the Porsches got loaded onto the transport truck. For Porsche Parade 2026 in Lake Placid, I decided to do the sane thing on the front end and the slightly questionable thing on the back end. I shipped Skipper, my Racing Yellow 718 Boxster…
Lake Placid to Fort Ticonderoga: 15 Porsches, Adirondack Roads, and a Fort Worth the Drive
Our Porsche Parade drive from Lake Placid to Fort Ticonderoga had the full recipe: 15 Porsches, Adirondack backroads, elevation changes, Lake Champlain views, a private fort tour, and one very improvised Starlink office next to the Skipper.
