Martini-Inspired Decals, a Skipper’s Signature, and a Boxster That Finally Looks the Part

Martini-inspired stripes with a personal twist — SKPR replacing tradition on my Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0.

I’ve always believed that if you’re going to show up to the track, you might as well show up looking good. Speed is optional. Style is not.

That idea finally pushed me to do something I’d been thinking about for a while: adding a Martini-inspired decal package to my Racing Yellow Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. Not to pretend I’m some hot shoe, but to lean into the fun side of the car and the culture that comes with it.

The decals were sourced from Autodesign Shop in the United Kingdom, and the installation was handled locally by Humble Crew Auto Spa in Plano, Texas. The end result is exactly what I was hoping for.

A motorsport-inspired look that complements the Boxster’s lines without overwhelming them.

This wasn’t about copying a factory race livery or building a tribute car. I wanted something that nodded to motorsport history but still felt personal, tasteful, and easy to live with on both the street and at HPDE events.

That’s where Autodesign Shop really stood out. They were fantastic to work with — responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. They walked me through multiple design options, helped scale the graphics correctly for a 718 Boxster, and even sent over renderings so I could visualize how everything would flow before committing. Doing this remotely across the Atlantic was painless.

One important customization was replacing the traditional Martini branding with SKPR.

One important customization was replacing the traditional Martini branding with SKPR.

SKPR is a nod to my other life — sailing in the Caribbean on our catamaran — where my role aboard is skipper. And while the name is playful, the responsibility is real. I do hold my International Proficiency Certificate (IPC) as a Yacht Helmsman for inland and coastal waters, so the reference isn’t just a nickname. It reflects how I think about leadership, awareness, and decision-making — whether on the water or behind the wheel.

The car and the boat live in very different worlds, but both reward smooth inputs, anticipation, and respect for conditions. Swapping Martini for SKPR turned the decals from a replica into a personal story.

Once the design was finalized, Humble Crew Auto Spa took over — and they absolutely nailed it. They didn’t just disappear with the car and call me when it was done. I received regular updates, progress photos, and check-ins throughout the process. That kind of communication matters when you care about the details.

Clean edges and consistent spacing — details that separate a graphic from a gimmick.

The execution speaks for itself. Clean edges. Consistent alignment. Excellent work over complex curves. Thoughtful placement that respects the Boxster’s proportions. Nothing feels rushed or generic. It looks intentional.

The stripes finish cleanly and intentionally, keeping the overall look balanced from every angle.

Now, about track performance.

I’m not fast.

My most reliable on-track move is a very enthusiastic point-by. And that’s perfectly fine. Track days are about learning, enjoying the car, and keeping everything shiny side up. If I’m going to be giving point-bys all day, I might as well look good doing it.

Mission accomplished.

The Boxster GTS 4.0 already delivers where it counts — sound, balance, and personality. These decals simply turn up the visual volume without crossing into cartoon territory.

Big thanks to Autodesign Shop for helping dial in the design and making the process easy from the UK, and to Humble Crew Auto Spa for executing it flawlessly here in Texas.

I may not be the fastest car on track — but I’ll be one of the best-looking ones, whether I’m skippering a sailboat in the Caribbean or pointing someone by at the next session.
