Dust, Wine, and Horsepower: Heavy Gruppe’s First Drive & Arrive to 4R Winery

On this sunny Sunday, the Maverick PCA’s Heavy Gruppe celebrated its second gathering—and marked its first official “Drive and Arrive”—with a spirited run through North Texas backroads, ending at the scenic 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery in Muenster.

Lined up and ready to roll out of Sanger—Macans and Cayennes looking clean, for now. Final checks, coffee in hand, and vibes already strong. Let the twisties—and the dust—begin.
🚘☕️

The Heavy Gruppe, made up entirely of Porsche Macans and Cayennes, rolled out from Sanger in style, engines purring and coffee in hand. What followed was a beautifully paced drive through open farmland, lush hills, and the kind of winding country roads that make you fall in love with driving all over again.

Rolling deep in Group 1 with two Porsches ahead of me and two behind—Rob leading the charge like a true road captain. Group 2 followed with six more Macans and Cayennes hot on our tail. Eleven cars total, one mission: twisties, wine, and a little dust for seasoning.
🍷🚘💨

We passed through a handful of charming small towns, each with its own character:

Valley View, where horses outnumbered traffic lights Forestburg, where the road curved just enough to make you smile and Saint Jo, a gem that surprised us with both the Stonewall Saloon Museum and the intriguing International Artillery Museum—a place that sparked more than a few “we should stop next time” comments.

Cruising through Saint Jo—a quick pause to admire the charm of this historic Texas square. The buildings, the colors, the clouds… and a Papaya Porsche in the rearview.

Then came the curveball that had everyone talking: the All Is Well Resort. A name that instantly stuck. No one knew what it was, exactly—Google searches were inconclusive—but every driver in the group took note and shared a good laugh. “All Is Well” felt like the perfect vibe for a carefree Sunday drive.

But nothing said “adventure” quite like the final approach to 4R Winery. The last three miles of the route turned into a narrow, hilly, and unpaved country road—complete with washboard texture and a healthy dose of dust. Unless you were one of the lucky few leading the pack, you spent those final minutes inside a rolling cloud of fine Texas topsoil. Our Macans and Cayennes arrived more “safari-spec” than showroom clean. 😄

That’s not dirt… it’s character. After three miles of Texas gravel, my Papaya Macan S showed up to the winery looking like it just survived a dust bowl rally. Still stylish. Still spicy. Just… a little crunchy.

The dust settled (literally) once we arrived at 4R Ranch, perched atop the rolling hills with stunning panoramic views. We were welcomed with shaded seating, peaceful surroundings, and a personalized red wine flight featuring Malbec, Tempranillo, and other Texas-grown varietals as well as an award winning Cabernet Sauvignon. A few of us may have shown up for the cars—but we stayed for the wine and camaraderie.

This event checked every box:

Heavy Gruppe is off to a fantastic start, and we’re just getting warmed up.

Wine flights, laughter, and stories at 4R Ranch. Our host had us all engaged through the tasting and fully charmed.
