Bluebonnet Tour 2025 – Great Roads, BBQ, and Porsche Camaraderie

Our second Maverick PCA tour of the 2025 season — the ever-popular Bluebonnet Tour — rolled out on April 6th and brought together members, families, and friends for a fantastic spring day of driving, conversation, and good food. While the bluebonnets didn’t quite steal the show this year, the smiles and spirit of the day more than made up for it.

Ennis, Texas, officially designated the Bluebonnet City of Texas by the state legislature in 1997, boasts over 40 miles of wildflower trails — the oldest in the state. Tens of thousands visit each year hoping to catch that iconic Texas bloom. Although the blooms were a bit elusive this year, our route through the rolling backroads of Ellis County still delivered a beautiful drive.

We started the tour from Red Oak Middle School and wound our way south and east along scenic rural highways and farm-to-market roads, enjoying views of pastures, tree-lined stretches, and that unmistakable feeling of being part of something special. Due to road conditions, the tour was slightly shortened, but that didn’t slow down the fun. The drive offered around 70 miles of peaceful cruising and Porsche spirit — a blend of heritage and horsepower.

Tour participants chose from three different driving classes:

Vintage Class for a relaxed, scenic pace Modern Class for a more spirited version of the same route Sedan/SUV Class, newly added this year, welcoming all Porsche types

At the finish line: Bluebonnet BBQ in Waxahachie, where great food and even better company capped off the day. We had the pleasure of enjoying lunch with my wife Liz and son Matt, catching up with familiar faces, and meeting new members. That’s what these tours are really about — the connections, the laughter, and the stories that keep us coming back.
