Today I had the pleasure of attending my very first All Member Tour with the Maverick PCA as a new member—and what a fantastic experience it was!
The morning started with a quick stop at the DIY car wash to get my Porsche Macan S looking sharp. I had just hand-washed it four days ago, but thanks to all the high winds lately, a layer of dust had settled on it even while parked safely in our condo garage. After a thorough rinse and wipe-down, I mounted a GoPro to the front tow hook, below my rear-view mirror and another to the top of the rear windshield—gotta capture those driving moments from every angle.

The tour began at Gunter High School’s parking lot. I arrived early, but the lot quickly filled with an incredible array of Porsches in nearly every color and model imaginable. It was a sight to behold. I ran into a few familiar faces, including Louis de Vega—our former State Farm agent—along with his wife Rita.
I also bumped into several folks I’ve met at prior Porsche meetups, including Neil and Jeff. Jeff brought his high school–aged daughter along; she’s in the market for a used Porsche of her own, which is pretty awesome.
I met Jake with Stuart’s Paint and Body in Plano, TX, who does impressive bodywork on Porsches and other exotic cars. Everyone I met was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It’s always great to be in a place where everyone shares a common passion.
And while I loved seeing all the different models, I couldn’t help but keep an eye on the 718 Porsche Caymans parked around me. That sleek, mid-engine design gets me every time. My personal goal is to someday pick up either a Cayman S or the GTS 4.0—and when I do, I want it in Racing Yellow or Python Green. Bright, bold, and unmistakably Porsche. One day!
After checking in, we signed the PCA waiver ✍️ and received our group assignments. I was placed in the Miami Blue group, led by RJ. We had a quick briefing on the rules of the day, the route, and how the groups would stay together with proper spacing.
RJ would lead, I was initially slotted for the middle since I had a radio, and Ryan was assigned as the sweep car. But as luck would have it, his radio battery was dead —so I moved to the back and took over sweep duties.
This being my first tour, I was happy to take on the responsibility. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. ✅ My job was to make sure everyone made the turns, cleared the lights, and stayed together. There was one very serious hazard to watch out for: a massive pothole at mile 36 that looked like it could swallow a wheel and ruin someone’s day. ⚠️ Fortunately, we all made it through without incident.

The drive itself was beautiful—rolling Texas countryside, curvy roads, and a spirited pace. It all ended at Oak + Ivy in Aubrey, Texas, a fantastic ranch-style venue that felt like Porsche heaven.

Nestled among trees and open pastures, the space has a modern rustic vibe with plenty of room for showcasing cars. It made for a perfect gathering spot, with wide open fields for parking and a covered area for food, drinks, and socializing. The laid-back yet polished atmosphere gave everyone a chance to relax, walk around, and admire the sea of Porsches—somewhere between 140 to 170 cars in total. It really was a Porsche lover’s dream. ✨
There was plenty of food—including fresh fajitas —plus tables filled with giveaways and goodies. It was like being a kid in a candy store—except with more horsepower and carbon fiber.
I had to head out a bit early for another engagement, but I left feeling excited, welcomed, and already looking forward to the next adventure.
Next up: the Bluebonnet Tour in Ennis, TX. Can’t wait to hit the road again with this amazing group!
