Refined Relaxation and Farewell at Peter Island ⛵🌴🍽️

We left The Bight at Norman Island this morning around 11 AM, taking our time since we were heading to Peter Island, just under an hour away. It’s Antonio and Tia’s last night, so we wanted to keep it close to the Moorings base in Road Town, Tortola. Plus, we enjoyed our stay here last week, so we decided to come back for one more night.

Peter Island Resort

On the way, we planned to stop by The Indians for some snorkeling, but it was packed, and with no open mooring balls, we decided to skip it and head straight for Peter Island. The distance was so short, we didn’t even bother raising the sails—just motored over.

When we arrived, Chevon and Devron were waiting for us dockside, ready to guide us into our slip. Peter Island is a great place for docking—plenty of space to maneuver, and the non-existent current made it easy to manage the wind when we docked. If I made a mistake or needed to start over, it was a breeze.

After securing the boat, we thanked the guys and headed to the Drunken Pelican for lunch. This place is perfect if you’re looking for a refined atmosphere, away from the drunken beach bar vibe. 🏖️ There are plenty of quiet corners to relax, enjoy great food and drinks with friends, and still hear each other talk without the chaos of blaring music. Liz and I shared the conch chowder and roti, and both were absolutely delicious—the chowder had the right amount of spice, and the roti was soft, flavorful, and perfectly filled. 🍲🌶️

After lunch, we headed to Deadman’s Bay, where we had our driver drop us close to the spa, which seemed like the most secluded spot on the island. The location did not disappoint—we had the beach all to ourselves. We set up the Shibumi for some shade, and I took a much-needed nap. By the time I woke up, a few other groups had joined us, but it was still wonderfully peaceful.

Later, we walked over to The Drake Restaurant to catch a ride back to the marina. Our timing was perfect as Hashim was there waiting for another passenger, so we hopped in with him. Upon arrival, it was pool time! 🏊‍♂️ The saltwater pool is fantastic, and it’s the perfect place to relax without the usual chlorine sting. The views are also spectacular—a great spot to unwind.

On our way back to the boat, a woman stopped and asked if I worked there. Not sure what gave her that impression, but I asked how I could help. She said she was training for a marathon and wanted to run. Antonio had gone for a run earlier, so I explained the route to her, which made her happy. She asked if she could use my name in case she got stopped, and I told her it wouldn’t help, so no need.

Later, I ran into her again at the bar while ordering a pizza to-go. She told me it was a wonderful, scenic run and introduced herself as Katarina from New York. We chatted a bit about more running spots in the BVI, and she waved to us later when she and her friends were strolling along the docks, while we were on the upper deck lounge of our catamaran.

For our last night, we decided to skip eating ashore. Instead, we grabbed our meals to go and sat on the upper deck lounge to eat, drink, and be merry, soaking in the peaceful vibe. 🍕🍷 Tomorrow, we say goodbye to Tia and Antonio—it’s been an incredible trip with wonderful company, and we’ll definitely miss them.
