Well, that’s another trip for the record books! Once again, we found ourselves back in the British Virgin Islands in February 2025, soaking in the beauty, relaxation, and adventure that keeps bringing us back time and time again. This time we were joined by our friends Tia and Antonio from Dallas. Jeff and Kathlene were also supposed to join us but they had to can el at the last minute.
There’s just something about the BVI—the turquoise waters, the steady trade winds, the friendly people, and, of course, the amazing food and drinks—that makes every visit feel like paradise.
🌴 Returning to Our Favorite Spots
November and February are two of our favorite times to visit the BVI, and as always, we made our way to some of our go-to anchorages and restaurants.
We kicked things off at Cooper Island Beach Club, one of our favorite spots to enjoy a great meal and unwind with a cocktail while watching the sunset. The rum bar there never disappoints, and the relaxed atmosphere is exactly what we love about the islands.
Over at Norman Island, we had lunch at the Willy T 🏴☠️, where we jumped off the top deck before enjoying some great food and lively conversation with fellow sailors. Later that evening, we had dinner at Pirate’s Bight with Wes and his wife Suzanne, who own the sailing vessel Sea Tiger. It was a fantastic night of great food, shared stories, and wonderful company.
🐠 Snorkeling Adventures & Serendipitous Encounters
One of the best snorkeling spots of the trip was Diamond Reef, which we explored while moored at Marina Cay. The coral was vibrant, the fish were abundant, and the visibility was spectacular. It was easily one of the most beautiful reefs we’ve seen in a while.
While at Saba Rock, we watched the tarpon feeding, which is always a thrilling experience. Those giant fish gathering at dusk, swirling and darting through the water, is a sight to behold. But what made this stop extra special was bumping into Jesse Fullbrook, who introduced me to eFoiling last spring. She gave me a big hug when she saw me, which was a great reminder of how small and connected the sailing world can be. It’s always fun to run into familiar faces, especially in such a beautiful place!
⚓ A Classic BVI Experience at Norman Island
We also had another amazing snorkeling session at The Caves at Norman Island. The crystal-clear water and dramatic rock formations never fail to impress. While tying up to the dinghy line, I had a funny small-world moment—someone else tying up recognized me! It’s always fun when that happens, and we had a great conversation before heading off to explore the underwater wonders of the caves.
🦞 Anegada: Lobster, Drinks, and Laid-Back Vibes
No BVI trip is complete without heading up to Anegada, and once again, it was a highlight. We stopped at Tipsy by Ann 🍹, right by the beach near Cow Wreck, and enjoyed an afternoon of drinks, laughter, and soaking in the island’s laid-back, no-rush atmosphere.
And, of course, we couldn’t leave without having lobster at Potter’s by the Sea. 🦞🔥 The fresh, perfectly grilled lobster at Potter’s is legendary, and this time was no exception. There’s nothing quite like sitting on the beach under the stars, listening to the sound of the waves, and enjoying a meal that tastes like the Caribbean itself.
🏝️ Exploring Something New
Even though we love our usual stops, we always try to add something new to each trip, and this year we had a couple of exciting firsts!
First, we revisited Peter Island, a place that holds a special spot in our hearts. It was one of the first islands we visited back in the 1980s, but it had been closed since Hurricane Irma. Now, after years of anticipation, Peter Island Resort has officially reopened, and wow, what a comeback! The resort is stunning, the service is top-notch, and the entire island is as breathtaking as we remember. If you haven’t been, put it on your list—this is one of the most luxurious and peaceful spots in the BVI.
Another new stop for us was Diamond Cay, where we hiked over to the Bubbly Pool on Jost Van Dyke. 🌊💦 If you haven’t been, it’s a natural jacuzzi created by waves crashing through a narrow rock formation. It was so much fun to sit there as the waves rolled in, creating a bubbling effect all around us. A unique and exhilarating experience!
🏖️ Until Next Time…
As always, leaving the BVI is bittersweet. There’s nothing quite like waking up on the water, watching the sun rise over the islands, and spending the days sailing, swimming, and enjoying great food and company. But knowing that we’ll be back in November makes it a little easier.
This trip had everything we love about the BVI—familiar favorites, new adventures, fun surprises, and great friends. It’s truly one of the best places in the world, and we can’t wait to do it all again later this year.
Until next time, fair winds and following seas! ⛵⚓🌞
